Anatomy of a look

Of course, everything in fashion has already been done before. There are no "new" looks. You can personalize an old look, or update it, or give something a new twist. But don't ever come to me and say you are doing something completely revolutionary. I'll laugh in your face. There is always an antecedent. Always, always, always. Case in point: Mr. Manson left his Toronto hotel last night, wearing a fishnet stocking on his head. He seemed rather pleased to have found a new way to obscure that mug of his. I'm HOPING he doing an homage to Martin Degville of the groundbreaking '80s band, Sigue Sigue Sputnik. Martin, of course, did it better. I love this picture of him at the Palladium in NYC, with punk Princess Gloria TNT. I remember that night like it was yesterday. I might be wrong in saying that Martin was the first to wear the face-fishnet thing. If anyone can school me on the origins of this, and find an earlier example (the Dolls perhaps?
