Oprah's First Flash Mob Experience, ApparentlyFriday, September 11, 2009 03:15 PM
Although the Black Eyed Peas' "I Gotta Feelin'" is a runaway smash hit, there are just as many people who hate it as who put it on the charts. It's the lyrics, of course. The sameness of the lyrics. The repetition of the lyrics. The way the lyrics do not vary. But for the opening of Oprah Winfrey's 24th season of her Oprah show this week, the Peas performed it outside on Chicago's Magnificent Mile, with some different lyrics tailored to Oprah in front of 21,000 Oprah fans who somehow managed to dance to it en masse in near-perfect synchronization. Obviously tutored – but how? When? Oprah plotzed for the entire – some might say interminable – duration of the song then, obviously new to flash mobbing, pronounced it "the coolest thing EVER." See for yourself. (via Urlesque)
