Disco Sucks, among other thingsThursday, September 10, 2009 11:42 AM
Here's an actual public-access television commercial for the legendary '70s-era NYC sex club, Plato's Retreat, located on the Upper West Side, in the basement of the old Ansonia Hotel. It was "a unique club for free-thinking adults, with a relaxing, no-pressure environment, heated swimming pool, and that great disco beat!" I'm so sorry I missed this era of New York nightlife. I totally would have gone. But as the commercial reminds you: "Plato's Retreat is not for everyone." Meaning, um, fags. So even though I'm totally butch, and can easily pass for straight, I might have been uncomfortable there. (via Gawker)
