Tonight The Fun Gallery lives again!Friday, September 04, 2009 03:14 PM tags: art world, Debbie Harry, Downtown Superstars, East Village, Fab Five Freddie, Futura 200, Jean Michel Basquiat, Keith Haring, Kenny Scharf, Madonna, New York City, Patti Astor, the Fun Gallery
Tonight, the legendary Patti Astor reopens the legendary Fun Gallery here in Los Angeles. If that sentence means nothing to you, watch this quickie eight-minute documentary and be prepared to be blown away. It's "the story of a white girl from Ohio and her friends who took over New York City and changed the world." The Fun Gallery was the place where artists like Keith Haring, Jean Michel Basquiat, Kenny Scharf, Futura 2000, and Fab Five Freddie became international icons. It's where Debbie Harry and Andy Warhol and the Beastie Boys all hung out. It's where a young whore named Madonna... well, you'll have to watch and hear for yourself what SHE did there. Patti holds nothing back. The woman is a tornado. And she's definitely bringing all that old-skool energy to the new place. If you are anywhere NEAR Los Angeles tonight, this is definitely the place to see and be seen! Where: Meltdown Comics at 7522 Sunset Blvd in Hollywood. Time: 8:00 p.m. to ?
