Rum Dump at Stonewall

Boycott Jamaica activist Wayne Besen and the owners of the historic Stonewall Inn held a “Rum Dump” yesterday in protest of Jamaica’s brutal treatment of gay men. Time magazine has labeled Jamaica “The Most Homophobic Place on Earth.” The organizers called on all people who support equality and human dignity to boycott Jamaican tourism and Jamaican products such as Myer’s Rum and Red Stripe Beer. Activists called on the Jamaican Prime Minister to clearly and unequivocally condemn the violence against GLBT people and to publicly commit to end gay bashing on the island and improve the human rights situation.
