BRUNOWOOD!Friday, June 26, 2009 04:46 PM
Last evening, Brüno (Sacha Baron Cohen) made a Gay-rand red carpet entrance riding atop an huge glittered army tank for the Hollywood premiere of his film Brüno at Grauman's Chinese Theater. The flamboyant "Austrian fashion reporter" was accompanied by a marching band of military-clad models. His first words to the crowd were, “What’s up LA, what’s up Los Angeles! This is the most powerful documentary since The Lion King!” Sacha’s wife Isla Fisher (Confessions of a Shopaholic) attended the event. Other celebs I spotted: Jonah Hill (Super Bad), Oscar Nunez (The Office), and the sexy Alexander Skarsgard (Erik from True Blood). It was nice distraction from such a sad day.
SWISHtoryFriday, June 26, 2009 03:39 PM
I know some people here don't like the recent exuberant Brüno stunts, and there's been some grumbling that Brüno's red carpet covered Michael Jackson's star on the Walk of Fame last night. But the glitter tank Brüno rolled up on evoked another glorious over-the-top spectacle: Jackson's statue floating up the Thames for the launch of HIStory. So it was a kind of an homage. SWISHtory, if you will. (More great PR stunts)
Cat Ladies TrailerThursday, June 25, 2009 05:42 PM
Best Week Ever's Michelle Collins has this (in part) to say about Christie Callen-Jones' sad sad documentary, Cat Ladies: "God forbid my life ever spirals into the downward cat spiral seen in this Cat Ladies documentary. Because you know all of these women went from one pet, to getting three cat besties, to a dozen 'for kicks,' to a rescue den of 20, to falling asleep on a cattress and wearing live cat slippers to Petco and then having a seizure in the 'nip' aisle."
The Hurt Locker trailerWednesday, June 24, 2009 05:27 PM
One of the "unknowns" featured in this trailer for the Kathryn Bigelow war movie The Hurt Locker, opening Friday, is Jeremy Renner, who stars with Amber Tamblyn in ABC's police drama, The Unusuals, which we're unusually addicted to.

A workman, one of two in pink panties and bright yellow vestlets and hardhats, installing a billboard on Oxford Street in Sydney for the Brüno movie, stopped to do a gay little dance yesterday. Outside our cubicle window here at World of Wonder we can see a similar billboard, but the pantied and vested workmen are photographic. HuffPo has a caption contest and Towleroad has an early review.
Warhol Filmmaker Up and AboutWednesday, June 24, 2009 02:30 PM
The WOW Report was the first to report that Paul Morrissey, who directed many of the Andy Warhol films, including Trash, Heat, Flesh, and Chelsea Girls, was in critical condition after being hit by a truck on 86th Street in New York last Wednesday. We weren't just the first, we were the ONLY. But today, word comes via Contactmusic that, according to a source, the 71-year-old filmmaker is in a Manhattan rehabilitation facility and is able to walk and talk, but might have lost some short term memory. We wish him a speedy recovery.

Two Men and a PremiseTuesday, June 23, 2009 03:30 PM
If we understand correctly, this is a scene from a movie called Re-Do, about a wish for youth gone horribly wrong, starring Justin Long and a comedian named George Simmons, who is really Adam Sandler's character in the upcoming Judd Apatow movie Funny People. It's the new viral promotion, don't you know. Simmons has his own website. (t/y Sims)
Funny PeopleTuesday, June 23, 2009 07:02 AM
Last October I had the oppurtunity to work a few days as Jonah Hill's stand-in on Judd Apatow's Funny People. Sadly, due to a particular short film and a certain actor who wasn't a big fan, my time on set was cut short. Since then, I have made sure to follow the film and with no hard feelings am very excited for its release at the end of next month. Written and directed by Judd Apatow and starring Adam Sandler and Seth Rogen, Funny People looks to possibly be the feel-good flick of the summer.
World of WonderlandMonday, June 22, 2009 06:59 AM
A first look at Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter in Tim Burton's 3D version of Alice in Wonderland. We figure it's the seventh collaboration between the director and actor. This may be the first look at Depp as the Hatter, but it's the same look he has for nearly all Burton's movies. (Photo via Just Jared)

All About EvilFriday, June 19, 2009 11:44 AM
I CANNOT WAIT to see the movie All About Evil, made by Peaches Christ and Darren Stein. It's the feature film debut of writer/director Joshua Grannell and stars Natasha Lyonne (Slums of Beverly Hills, But I'm A Cheerleader, Party Monster), Thomas Dekker (Sarah Connor Chronicles, A Nightmare On Elm Street), Cassandra Peterson (Elvira, Mistress of the Dark), Mink Stole (Pink Flamingos, Serial Mom), Noah Segan (Deadgirl, Brick), Jack Donner (Star Trek), Julie Caitlin Brown (Babylon 5), Patrick Bristow (Showgirls), Peaches Christ (Season Of The Troll), and many more! Gaymazing! (t/y Paul O'Malley)
The Power of Negative ThinkingFriday, June 19, 2009 11:35 AM
On Wednesday night I had to go to the student BAFTA awards where the film I produced, Our Neck of the Woods, was a finalist. To everyone who said good luck, my reply was, "Thanks, we're not going to win." Why did I think this? A) Word on the street was that the head of the jury "didn't get" our movie and B) there was a movie about the (first) Iranian Revolution in competition and these awards things always go for "We Are the World" stuff like that. Plus, timing was on their side. I know the people who made the Iran movie; we were at school together. They had cleared a space on the mantel. Anyway, we won! The point of all this bullshit? EXPECT. THE. WORST. Assume disaster and disappointment around every corner. It can't be faked and takes some practice, but you really have to not believe and things will turn out surprisingly well.
