Rhodes Trip

On Monday morning, eccentric, pink-haired British fashion designer Zandra Rhodes drove her Ford Taurus wagon through the front window and into the Meanley & Son Ace Hardware store on Girard Avenue in La Jolla. A 42-year-old female customer was struck by a table that was struck by the car, and she was taken to the hospital where it was determined she sustained "some aches and pains from her head to her toe." Rhodes, who divides her time between London and Del Mar, was contacted later at her studio and said she wasn't injured and she didn't want to discuss it. (Sign On San Diego; t/y Wendy)

Lindsay turns 23

Lindsay Lohan turned 23 years old on Saturday, which is odd because I'm quite sure she's more like 73. Or 173. She's been around FOR-fucking-EVER. Maybe that's why she was spotted here at the Wet Republic pool in Vegas, wearing a bikini made of her mummy bandages. Btw, I'm absolutely NUTS about those black fringed platforms. I spot a trend!

First it was the colorful cocktail swords in the hipster's beard that caught my eyes. Now, it's the utilitarian simplicity of the "toothpick beard" that has me rock hard. I'm thinking that a lot of ANYTHING in your facial pubes is hot: cocktail wieners, #2 pencils, hat pins, bobby pins, bits of string, miniature flags, paper umbrellas... the possibilities are ENDLESS!

US Magazine chose an unfortunate week to call Michael Jackson a tranny train wrek

Another reason that print media is dying. In the latest issue of US Weekly, which hit the newsstands on Friday, they made the rather ill-timed choice to dedicate their "Back Page of Fashion Shame" to Michael Jackson. In picture after picture, they point out that he is a horribly dressed tranny train wreck. But here's the thing: I actually like almost ALL of his fashion choices here, something I've been noticing A LOT lately. I've really begun to appreciate what a wonderfully eccentric fashion inspiration he is/was.  I totally think this fall will be the year we all start dressing like the King of Pop again, in fabulously over-the-top glittery military-wear and women's suit jackets. (I'm especially smitten with the gold-studded Givenchy ensemble. It's just the speckled Balmain pants that have got to go.)

I'm McLovin' It

Alexander McQueen has lost his damn mind – AGAIN – and I'm having fashion orgasms. The outfits from his latest collection – almost all accessorized with FABULOUS blow-up doll/Amanda Lepore lips – are described by Style.com as parodies of Christian Dior houndstooth New Look and Chanel tweed suits, and meant as "a last-stand fin de siecle blast against the predicament in which fashion, and possibly consumerism as a whole, finds itself." I don't know about THAT, but I know that I would throw my mother off a roof for any ONE of them.

Ah, gaze upon the sartorial excellence that was Hjordis Genberg and her daring poolside headpiece, circa 1964. Who? Huh? Yes, the chick in the fantastic towel/straw hat combo was known by the name of Hjordis Genberg and was once married to the dashing leading man, David Niven (left). And, OH, I just can't stop marveling at how that gorgeous striped hat of hers tips JUST SO. I want to wear something similar to the office, the beach, the mall, and out clubbing.
